Addie Gray never married and worked as a nanny for many of the island’s summer families. When Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick’s family summered on Mouse Island, he hired her to live with them in New York when his children were young. Addie was presented with the Boston Post Cane by the Southport Selectmen in 1989.
